$50,000 Seed Funding for Christian African Entrepreneurs
For years, the idea of “angel investors” felt like a distant concept — something reserved for Silicon Valley or the elite startup circles. But for many aspiring founders, that perception changed with the arrival of Deborah and Kevin Bartz.
This remarkable couple — driven by faith, generosity, and a mission to uplift communities — are the founders of Passion Ventures, a venture initiative designed to empower Christian entrepreneurs tackling real-world problems through business. At the heart of their initiative is the Passion Ventures Fellowship, a program that offers up to $50,000 in seed capital to selected early-stage founders. The funding is disbursed over the course of one year and is coupled with mentorship, community, and strategic guidance.
A Faith-Driven Vision for Impact
In a recent conversation, Deborah Bartz shared how central faith is to their mission. “We believe that Christians are not just called to preach the gospel, but to live it out — by solving real problems and serving people with integrity, compassion, and excellence,” she said.
According to her, entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful ways to be “salt and light” in today’s world — offering tangible solutions to pressing issues like unemployment, poor infrastructure, education gaps, and healthcare challenges. The Passion Ventures Fellowship is a practical extension of that belief.
Focus on Africa: A Call for Visionary Entrepreneurs
Though open to global applicants, the Bartzes have expressed a deep desire to support innovative Christian entrepreneurs in Africa. They believe the continent holds enormous potential for sustainable, transformative ventures, but as of yet, they have not identified a strong, fundable African proposal.
“We’re praying this year is different,” Deborah said. “We want to see bold, faith-driven African founders rise up with ideas that combine Kingdom impact with business viability.”
Whether it’s a clean energy startup in Nigeria, a mobile health initiative in Kenya, or an edtech platform in Ghana, Passion Ventures is looking for founders who are deeply committed to both their faith and their communities.
